Carmen Rodriguez
This is Carmen Aguirre’s mother. She’s an activist and educator who graduated from the University of Santiago de Chile. Carmen was a social worker in southern Chile before being denounced by the Pinochet regime. During her exile, she managed to get many peers out of the country.
Marcus Youseff
Marcus is a playwright and artistic director in Vancouver. Along with Carmen, he was one of the first people of color to write plays in the Vancouver area.
Tamara
Carmen and Tamara were together during their Chilean exile in Vancouver in the 1970’s. Her parents were so close that Carmen considered them as her aunt and uncle.
Heidi
Heidi directs the Playwrights Theater Centre in Vancouver. She is looking to make the theater a main agent of change, with a focus on First Nations. She has collaborated with Carmen on various projects.
Maria José Doyle
Maria José has been part of Carmen’s career for years. She has been her agent for over 20 years and her greatest advocate. Maria José has introduced her to the appropriate people for the roles she earned in film and television.
